Cherry Hill Firefighters Help Place Flags on Veterans' Graves in Honor of Memorial Day

Your Cherry Hill Professional Firefighters were honored to once again join a long-standing tradition by American Legion Cherry Hill NJ on Sunday, May 21, 2023 to place American flags on the graves of our local veterans buried at Locustwood Cemetery. Members also joined the American Legion and other community groups on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 to place flags on graves at historic Colestown Cemetery.

Retirement of FF Mike Nelson

Your Cherry Hill Professional Firefighters congratulate FF Mike "Mick" Nelson on his retirement after 25 years of service. We thank you for your dedicated and selfless service to our union, our department, the Camden County Emerald society Pipes and Drums, and our community. "Mick" worked his last shift at Engine 22 on Kings Highway starting on Saturday, May 20, 2023, and was "piped out" at the end of his final 24-hour shift at 8am on Sunday, May 21, 2023.

Friday, May 12 into Saturday, May 13, 2023 proved to be a very busy shift for your Cherry Hill Fire Department Professional Firefighters who typically work 24-hour shifts from 8am until 8am. CHFD Rescue Ladder 13 Struck by Passenger Vehicle While Operating on Route 295

Early on January 14, 2023, Cherry Hill Fire Department units operated on an accident on Interstate 295. While operating at that incident, Rescue Ladder 13 was struck by a passing vehicle. The impact from the secondary accident left the motorist from the striking vehicle trapped, requiring extrication. Cherry Hill Fire Department members provided immediate aid and utilized hydraulic rescue tools to free the occupant of the second crash, who was then transported for further treatment.Thankfully, there were no injuries to our members. All additional information on this incident will be released by the CHFD and NJSP.

Your A-Platoon Cherry Hill Fire Department Professional Firefighters from Ladder 1324 responded Wednesday, March 29, 2023 via automatic aid into Collingswood to assist at the scene of a fire in a commercial occupancy. Your CHFD firefighters responded into surrounding communities via automatic aid three times on Wednesday alone, with responses into Collingswood, Maple Shade, and Voorhees.

Cherry Hill Firefighters Battle Several Vehicle Fires

Car fires are fortunately not an every day occurrence in Cherry HIll, but they do happen every day in the United States. The National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) estimates that 33 cars catch on fire every hour someplace across the country! On Sunday, February 12, 2023, your A-Platoon Cherry Hill Professional Firefighters responded to I-295 northbound at mile marker 30.5 for a well-involved passenger vehicle. On Tuesday, February 14, 2023, A-Platoon Firefighters from Ladder 1324 responded to the area of Route 70 and Haddonfield Road and quickly extinguished another well-involved passenger vehicle fire. On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, the Cherry Hill Fire Department held a promotional/oath of office at Fire Headquarters. Congratulations to Sean Carlin on his promotion to Lieutenant and Steve Kinky on his promotion to Captain. Lt. Carlin joined the CHFD in 2016 graduating from the Recruit Academy Class 16-24. As a Firefighter, Sean has been assigned to Ladder 1324, and Rescue 13. He was Promoted to Lieutenant remaining at Rescue 13 - C Platoon. Sean was secretary for IAFF Local 2663’s Executive Board. Cherry Hill Firefighters Battle Old Orchard Basement Fire

On Tuesday, January 24, 2023, your Cherry Hill Professional Firefighters responded to a report of a fire in the basement of a home on Chimney Lane in the Old Orchard neighborhood. Arriving firefighters found smoke and flames coming from the basement of the residence and quickly gained control of the fire. The home was occupied at the time and was determined to be accidental in nature. The fire is under investigation by the Cherry Hill Fire Department Fire Marshal. No injuries were reported.
