On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, the Cherry Hill Fire Department held a promotional/oath of office at Fire Headquarters. Congratulations to Sean Carlin on his promotion to Lieutenant and Steve Kinky on his promotion to Captain.

Lt. Carlin joined the CHFD in 2016 graduating from the Recruit Academy Class 16-24. As a Firefighter, Sean has been assigned to Ladder 1324, and Rescue 13. He was Promoted to Lieutenant remaining at Rescue 13 - C Platoon. Sean was secretary for IAFF Local 2663’s Executive Board. He is a certified technician in multiple rescue company disciplines and is a NJ Level II Fire Instructor. He graduated in 2014 from Temple University with a Bachelor of Arts and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration from the University of Pennsylvania FELS Institute of Government. Lt. Carlin was born and raised in Blackwood where he currently resides.

Captain Kinky joined the CHFD in 2007 graduating from the Recruit Academy Class 07-01. As a firefighter, he’s been assigned to Engine 1322, Ladder 1344, Rescue 13/Ladder 1334, Squrt 1351, Squad/Hazmat 13, Rescue/USAR 13. Steve was promoted to Lieutenant in 2015. He is currently assigned as Captain of Ladder 1324. Captain Kinky has many certifications including FEMA Rescue Specialist and FEMA Hazardous Materials Specialist. Steve is the Lead/Adjunct instructor for various rescue and firefighter disciplines. He serves on various committees including the Training and Safety Committee, Health and Wellness Workgroup and is the Officer in charge of the Recruit Academy.Captain Kinky has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from St. Joseph’s University. Steve, his wife, Lauren and children Edward and Ainsley-Julia live in Haddon Heights.
